Yes, many people ask this question and the answer is no. A corset will not hurt your insides, damage you or push anything out of place. A corset is certainly designed to reshape you and change your shape, but it will no hurt you. Much research has been done on the subject by many doctors. Some doctors reported that the corset would hinder muscle development, but let’s face it, firstly: you shouldnt be wearing a corset whilst still developing and secondly: you shouldn’t be wearing a corset whilst exercising! That’s just common sense!
Corsets today are generally worn for fashionable reasons, to make you look and feel good. There are less expensive plastic/acrylic boned corsets (not ideal for larger busted ladies or plus size ladies) These bones do not offer any support or hold. The other corsets that are popular are the steal boned corsets, they give great support and are generally available up to a natural waist if 45″.

People often choose a plastic boned corset because they are less expensive and we totally understand that, money can be tight with so many bills to pay out. So here are some pointers on how to get the most of your plastic boned corset:
1 – Don’t lace them too tightly, you don’t want to risk bending the bones too much or ripping the material, plastic boned corsets aren’t double layered like steel boned corsets.
2 – If you are plus size, keep the corset for bedroom use only. A plastic boned corset won’t hold you in and the bones will bend easily.
3 – Don’t expect too much from one of these corsets, they are fashion corsets, not made to pull you in or shape you. They can certainly help smooth your figure a little, but that’s it.
I have many customers who love these corsets, my plus size ladies wear them for their partners and my slimmer customers wear them on a night out as a top but only pulled in my 2 inches or so.

My personal Facebook account got me thinking this morning, what with all the resolutions everyone is making. Do you make new years resolutions? I don’t! I don’t see why you need to wait until the new year to lose weight etc, but thats just me. Last year i started my weightloss right after Christmas and lost the 10lbs i wanted to lose, this year i would like a further 7lbs to come off. That’s right, many times people ask me “Why a steel boned corset and not the less expensive option of a plastic boned corset?”
That is an easy answer:
Firstly, the bones of acrylic (plastic) and steel corset are very different. The plastic bones bend and tend to bend the corset out of shape quickly and do not give you the hour glass shape people are looking for from a corset. A steel boned corset does.
Secondly, steel boned corsets are double layered fabric, offering more support, quality and the boned are encased in soft cotton, making it very comfortable to wear.
Thirdly, a steel boned corset will go the distance, won’t rip, bend and will still be around 3 years down the road even when worn out regularly.
